What is happening at Liverpool?

Is this a slump of bad form or is there a deeper underlying problem? Despite going to London stadiums and beating Tottenham and their neighbours West Ham a few days later, Liverpool were embarrassed by an impressive and in form Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield. There were worrying signs throughout the game that made the fans believe that there must a deeper problem at the club. The inability to secure a center back in the early stages of the transfer window is one of such problems. Despite the signing of two new center backs, Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak, Liverpool still lost the match against Brighton and Hove Albion due to Nat Phillips inability to clear.

In our next game against Manchester City, Liverpool will have to do better. Liverpool will have to create more big chances for the likes of Mo Salah and Firmino. Liverpool currently sits 7 points behind Manchester City who has a game in hand. A loss will mean being 10 points behind with a game in hand which well and truly could mean that the title race is over for the Reds.

Prediction

Liverpool: The Reds men will have two goals in mind for the clash at Anfield today, which is to get the three points and to achieve the first goal without any injuries. Right now, qualifying for Champions League has become the unanticipated aim for Liverpool. At this stage of the title race, it is important for Jurgen Klopp to manage the squad effectively. Thus, it would be advisable not to rush Fabinho to the starting line up as there is still Champions League to take into consideration.

Manchester City: Pep Guardiola’s men will be looking to continue their 13-match winning streak in the Premier League on their way to regain their title from Liverpool. Manchester City is in good form and has proven to be the most consistent team in the league. However, beating the men from Anfield will not be an easy task, especially considering that they will be playing without their talismans Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne who both face lengthy injuries.
